Support Toshi Okada for the 2020 motionball Marathon Of Sport Toronto

Dear friends and family,

I hope this note finds you well and in good health.

On September 26, I am proud and excited to say that I will be participating in motionball’s first ever virtual edition of Marathon of Sport, hosted by Olympic Champion Tessa Virtue.

Unfortunately, we are unable play in person this year, so this year we need your support more than ever. Courtesy of Covid-19, what would normally be a series of 50 events in cities and universities across the country is now wrapped-up in one event. The upside of this is the ability to invite the 50,000 Special Olympics athletes with an intellectual disability to participate, as well as the rest of Canada. With many Special Olympics programs and fundraising initiatives on hold, our goal is to ensure that no athlete is left behind when programs resume. I am very excited about the opportunity to raise more awareness about a cause I am extremely passionate about and one that many from across both CI and Assante have participated in over the years. The best part of any motionball event is engaging with our celebrities, our Special Olympic athletes, and I am rejoiced to join Caitlin Coyle for another year of Marathon of Sport.

Your donation is critical in supporting athletes participating in Special Olympics programs at every level, from the athletes who bring home gold medals and make Canada proud on the world stage to the thousands who look forward to weekly practice for fitness, fun, and friendship. You are supporting the parents, siblings, caregivers and friends of individuals with intellectual disabilities, who imagine a world of inclusion & endless possibilities.

By supporting motionball, you are helping raise important funds and creating awareness for the Special Olympics movement and making it possible for more people with intellectual disabilities to benefit from the transformative power of sport.

Thank you for your consideration – any, and all, support is greatly appreciated.

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
