Support Nicole Vespa for the 2020 motionball Marathon Of Sport Hamilton

Nicole Vespa here - I am SO EXCITED to be participating in motionball’s first ever VIRTUAL edition of Marathon of Sport.

I participate in 4 Special Olympics sports! My main sport is Figure Skating, then Rhythmic Gymnastics, Swimming and Golf in the summer. I started to skate at age 4 in the Special Needs Program, then at 8 years old in 2002, I joined the Special Olympics skating program and started to compete at Regional and Invitational competitions held annually. My LOVE for Figure Skating has taken me to 3 National Winter Games including Thunder Bay at the end of February 2020. My highlight of Figure Skating was the "inclusion" to skate in Rock the Rink Tour with Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue, with my Pairs partner David Robertson on November 6, 2019. We also figure skated intermission at The NHL ALUMNI vs Law Enforcement All Stars game at First Ontario Centre in Hamilton February 16, 2020. I was also in training in Rhythmic Gymnastics for the postponed 2020 Provincial Spring Games in May!!

We can’t play in person this year, so we need your support more than ever. With many Special Olympics programs and fundraising initiatives on hold, our goal is to ensure that no athlete is left behind when programs resume.

Your donation is critical in supporting athletes participating in Special Olympics programs at every level, from the athletes who bring home gold medals and make Canada proud on the world stage to the thousands who look forward to weekly practice for fitness, fun, and friendship. You are supporting the parents, siblings, caregivers and friends of individuals with intellectual disabilities, who imagine a world of inclusion & endless possibilities.

By supporting motionball, you are helping raise important funds and creating awareness for the Special Olympics movement and making it possible for more people with intellectual disabilities to benefit from the transformative power of sport.

Thank you for your consideration -- any support is greatly appreciated.

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
