Support Catherine Rinaldi for the 2021 motionball Marathon Of Sport McMaster University

motionball McMaster is back this year and BETTER THAN EVER! I am proud to be part of the planning team for this years motionball McMaster March Madness! We are ready to make some BIG changes despite some BIG barriers. Even though we will be motionball-ing virtually, this year's Marathon of Sport will still encompass the most important parts of motionball: inclusiveness, friendship, sport competition and LOVE for our Special Olympics athletes.

motionball is a non-profit organization that raises money for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, to ensure that individuals of all intellectual abilities are included in sport. While the pandemic left most of us feeling isolated, it has impacted the Special Olympics athletes to a greater extent. It has been a tough year for them with the cancellation of Special Olympics programs, and the shift to a virtual environment. Funds raised at this event will ensure that Special Olympic athletes have the resources they need to stay active at home. When programs are safe to return, further funds are essential to ensure that no athlete gets left behind

motionball has had such a positive impact on my life, but even more so on my younger sister. Melissa is one of the 49, 626 Special Olympic athletes across Canada. motionball has given Melissa a space to be included and grow her confidence. Not only are you supporting the Special Olympics athletes by donating to motionball... You are supporting the parents, siblings, caregivers and friends of individuals with intellectual disabilities, who hope for a world of inclusion & endless possibilities for their loved ones.

By supporting motionball, you are helping raise important funds and creating awareness for the Special Olympics movement and making it possible for more people with intellectual disabilities to benefit from the transformative power of sport.

Thank you for your consideration -- any support is greatly appreciated.

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
