Support Carla Lecourt for the 2021 motionball Marathon Of Sport Toronto

On September 25, I am proud to be participating in the motionball Marathon of Sport.

Your donation is critical in supporting athletes participating in Special Olympics programs at every level, from the athletes who bring home gold medals and make Canada proud on the world stage to the thousands who look forward to weekly practice for fitness, fun, and friendship. You are supporting the parents, siblings, caregivers and friends of individuals with intellectual disabilities, who imagine a world of inclusion & endless possibilities.

I've been a proud supporter of motionball for several years now, however the organization took on a completely new meaning for my family with the arrival of my youngest son Zach who was born with Down syndrome on May 14, 2020. With Down syndrome comes delays in achieving developmental milestones, however Zach has been working hard in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy sessions to develop a wide range of skills. He is showing incredible progress and we're sure it's just a matter of time before he's chasing his older brother around and becoming more active. We are so grateful he will one day have the opportunity to participate in Special Olympic programs which wouldn't be what they are today without motionball.

By supporting motionball, you are helping raise important funds and creating awareness for the Special Olympics movement and making it possible for more people with intellectual disabilities to benefit from the transformative power of sport.

Thank you for your consideration -- any support is greatly appreciated.

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
