Support Chloe MacDonald for the 2022 motionball Marathon Of Sport Cape Breton

On July 21st 2012, I stepped on the field at Saint Mary's University for my first experience of the motionball Marathon of Sport Halifax with Team CI Assante Wealth Management. I knew one person, and not a whole lot about the event. Fast forward to June 25th 2022 and I will be participating in the motionball Marathon of Sport Cape Breton for year 10. motionball has become an incredibly important part of my life and it truly was the one thing missing when I moved to Cape Breton in late 2016. Pandemic aside, 2017 was the only year I did not participate and it was because there was no event in Cape Breton. But we changed that, and in 2018, the first motionball Marathon of Sport Cape Breton took place. It has been an honor to co-direct the event here with Dave and I am proud to say we have raised over $90,000 for local Special Olympics programs and athletes since.

For my 10th year, I am hoping to do something big and personally raise $5000. Funds like this help local Special Olympics chapters in paying for team uniforms, tournament and facility rental costs, travel expenses, equipment and the “Healthy Athlete” programs. They also support the Special Olympics Canada Foundation itself to ensure sustainability, as well as the #NoGoodWay Campaign which aims to end the use of the R-word in everyday conversation. By making a donation, you'll be funding programs for athletes right here in our community and helping to level the playing field for the over 50,000 Canadians with intellectual disabilities.

Thank you very much for your support,  Chloe

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
