Support Kevin Kevin for the 2022 motionball Marathon Of Sport Vancouver

I have been struggling to write Michael's (my brother) story here, which is why it feels quite a last-minute... I want to cherish and continue his legacy for as long as possible. Here I am, still continuing my commitment with Motionball and Special Olympics Canada for his cause.

5 months have gone by since my very special brother, "Michael Chandra Goetama", has passed. Luckily, I was able to fly home to Indonesia to see him one last time before his final calling. He waited for me, and we spent 4 days together. By remembering him, Michael continues to inspire me to do better for this world and his presence shaped the person I am today. I always dreamed of having him here in Canada as it would be so beautiful to see him play sports with special kids and athletes -- but I know he is watching this glorious event from above. I miss his big smile but I know he is watching with a smile as he sees all of the motionballers smiling and laughing throughout the day.

To those who never heard of Motionball or Special Olympics before. This Saturday (June 18th), I'll be participating in an event called Motionball Marathon of Sport for the 6th time as a team captain and a committee for the first time! This year's committees have been working hard in bringing athletes of all abilities together on the playing field. While fundraising is one of our goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more. The Motionball day not only brings awareness to the Special Olympics movement, but allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build lifelong friendships, and ultimately create more inclusive communities.

By donating to my brother's legacy and Motionball, I will match your donation by acting upon one of my sports passion: road-biking. So for every $1 you contribute, I will ride 1km for you this year. This is my fundraising commitment in doing #BikeForGood #1km1dollar -- Happy to mention your name as a way to appreciate your contribution (and happy to make your contribution anonymous).

If you're saving up for this year but still want to help out, you can help me raise awareness on why Motionball and Special Olympics Canada matters for all the special athletes out there! Please help share my link around to your friends and family, we would truly appreciate any effort -----

Thank you very much for your support this week, I have 5 more days to hit my $2000 goal!

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
