If you know me, you must know about motionball!!!

motionball is a national non-profit that raises funds and awareness for Special Olympics through integrated social and sporting events. Special Olympics provides opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to experience the transformative power of sport through weekly community programming and high-level sport competitions.

motionball UofT’s flagship event, Marathon of Sport, takes place on Friday, March 20th. Participants join in teams with local Special Olympics athletes for a day of fun and inclusive sports, all while raising funds and awareness in support of the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. This is an action-packed day where my team and I will play sports alongside Special Olympics athletes from our community.

UofT’s 2025 Marathon of Sport hit a record high for a one-day event, raising $17,000. While fundraising is one of motionball’s goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more. In addition to the awareness built, this day allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact and build lifelong friendships, ultimately creating more inclusive communities. Many athletes call our events the best day of the year, and for students, it’s often their first time connecting with Special Olympic athletes, learning moments that foster empathy and challenge stereotypes.
