Support Team November Project for the 2019 motionball Marathon Of Sport Kelowna

On September 21, November Project is excited to be returning and participating in an all-day fundraiser called the motionball Marathon of Sport. All funds raised at the event are donated to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. The November Project team will play alongside Special Olympic athletes in a day stacked with fun filled, sport related activities. Our team has a combination of both first time Motionballers and repeat participants such as Amy and Peter with their three kiddos, one of which, an 11 year old named Claire, was born with Down Syndrome. Claire is a beautiful, bright, compassionate, sassy little thing who also happens to be a fantastic athlete! However, because of her Down syndrome and intellectual disability, the speed with which her typical peers play sports is often too fast for her to keep up – and that’s what is AMAZING about Special Olympics !! Having the option for her to play sports at a competitive level with athletes at a similar development level is such a gift for the families and Special Olympic athletes alike. Thank you to all for recognizing the importance of Special Olympics in our communities and helping us celebrate and encourage these athletes to stay fit and have fun!"

Marathon of Sport Kelowna is part of a larger national movement called motionball for Special Olympics, a non-profit organization that empowers young Canadians to be leaders in their communities, raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics so that individuals with intellectual disabilities can lead happier, healthier lives. Special Olympics provides opportunities for over 47,000 Canadians with intellectual disabilities to experience the transformative power of sport. Today, motionball proudly hosts over 40 events across Canada and has delivered over $10.8 million to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation!

By making a donation to motionball, you'll be supporting athletes like Claire and together we can level the playing field for thousands of Canadians with intellectual disabilities.

Thank you very much for your support,
  November Project

HOW CAN YOUR DOLLARS HELP?

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
