Support Team The Scottish Nobles for the 2020 motionball Marathon Of Sport Hamilton

We are proud to be participating in motionball’s first ever virtual edition of Marathon of Sport, hosted by Olympic Champion Tessa Virtue.

Chris had a true passion for supporting others, especially those with intellectual disabilities, participating annually at the motionball Marathon of Sport Hamilton alongside Uncle Brian, a local Special Olympics athlete. The energy and spirit he brought to this event each year as Team Captain of the Scottish Nobles made it an exciting and memorable day for so many and that spirit will continue to live on for many years to come! To honour Chris' passion for team spirit, motionball Hamilton has created the Chris Pilkey Team Spirit Award which is a trophy awarded to the team with the most team spirit (and best costumes!) each year. In his memory, we will continue to support Special Olympics sport programs across the country so that individuals with intellectual disabilities can lead happier, healthier lives and his spirit will live on through all those he has impacted.

We can’t play in person this year, so we need your support more than ever. With many Special Olympics programs and fundraising initiatives on hold, our goal is to ensure that no athlete is left behind when programs resume.

Your donation is critical in supporting athletes participating in Special Olympics programs at every level, from the athletes who bring home gold medals and make Canada proud on the world stage to the thousands who look forward to weekly practice for fitness, fun, and friendship. You are supporting the parents, siblings, caregivers and friends of individuals with intellectual disabilities, who imagine a world of inclusion & endless possibilities.

By supporting motionball, you are helping raise important funds and creating awareness for the Special Olympics movement and making it possible for more people with intellectual disabilities to benefit from the transformative power of sport.

Thank you for your consideration -- any support is greatly appreciated.

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
