Support Team EllisDon for the 2021 motionball Marathon Of Sport Ottawa

From July 10 to July 17th, we are participating in a week-long fundraiser called the motionball Marathon of Sport Ottawa. Throughout this week, our Team will be completing a variety of physical activities, tracking our total collective distance and raising important funds along the way. All funds raised at the event are donated to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, to support local Special Olympics athletes like Taylor.

"Taylor inspires us every day with the way he faces the world - fearless and with a big smile. He has had a number of obstacles to overcome in his life. motionball has had a direct impact on Taylor by giving him the chance to interact with young professionals and positive role models who look more at what he can do - not what he can't. This has made him more confident. In 2019, Taylor brought home 2 bronze medals from the National Summer Games in Nova Scotia and interviewed the legendary Don Cherry on his very own radio show."
- Steve Redmond, parent and Special Olympics coach

With Special Olympics programs and initiatives on hold, our friends at Special Olympics need us more than ever. For many of them, Special Olympics is not just about sport, or staying fit and healthy, but also about providing a social network, a sense of belonging and a valuable source of stability – all essential to their mental and physical health. motionball’s goal is to raise the important funds needed in order to ensure that later this year, all Special Olympics programs can return stronger than ever, and that no athlete is left behind.

By making a donation to motionball, you're helping to ensure that athletes like Taylor have the resources they need to stay active at home and that when the time comes, they can safely return to the sport programs they love.

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
