Support Team Fitzpatrick & Company for the 2021 motionball Marathon Of Sport PEI

On October 23, we are participating in an all-day fundraiser called the motionball Marathon of Sport PEI. All funds raised at the event are donated to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. Throughout the day, our team will be competing in a variety of sports alongside local Special Olympics athletes like Fareed.

"The Marathon of Sport is my favourite part because I met a lot of friends and sponsors for fundraising! Because of COVID-19, we could not have this last year of Marathon of Sport, so it is important this year to raise funds and finally meet everyone and be back together again. (Special Olympics) keeps us healthy, active and in-touch with our friends and we can make new friends. It is a day filled with fun, I get to meet the sponsors so they can see how their donations impact the athletes.”
- Fareed Champsi, Special Olympics athlete and Honorary motionball Special Olympics Athlete of the year

Fareed plays for Special Olympics Ontario as a swimmer, curler, floor hockey, softball and track & field athlete. Outside of sport, he loves comedy and video games. Fareed is also an advocate. One of his greatest accomplishments in life is representing Special Olympics Canada on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, where he shared the impact of sport on his life with Members of Parliament. Because of his – and many others' – efforts, Special Olympics programs across the country received increased funding.

Marathon of Sport PEI is part of a larger national movement called motionball for Special Olympics, a non-profit organization that empowers young Canadians to be leaders in their communities, raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics so that individuals with intellectual disabilities can lead happier, healthier lives. Special Olympics provides opportunities for over 49,500 Canadians with intellectual disabilities to experience the transformative power of sport. Today, motionball proudly hosts over 50 events across Canada and has delivered over $14 million to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation!

By making a donation to motionball, you'll be supporting athletes like Fareed and together we can level the playing field for thousands of Canadians with intellectual disabilities.

Thank you very much for your support,

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
