Support Team Sam's Team for the 2024 motionball Marathon Of Sport Calgary

We are so proud to be sharing that Sam's Team will be participating at the 2024 motionball Marathon of Sport . On June 22, our Team will be taking the field, alongside local Special Olympics athletes for a full day of sports, fun and inclusivity!

Today, we are inviting you to become a part of this amazing day by helping us reach our Team fundraising goal of $2,500. A tax receiptable donation of $20 will make a direct, local impact on Special Olympics athletes, like Sam.

Sam competed as a Unified Athlete in Track and Field at Crescent Heights High School, along with his teammate, Erik. They earned third place at the Provincial High School championships in 2022. They competed in 2023 and campaigned for greater participation in Unified Track and Field by other Calgary area high schools. By 2024, 14 teams competed in Calgary at the high school city championships. Sam and his new partner, Riley, earned 5th place at Provincials this year.

.

Sam was recently nominated for grade 12 Athlete of the Year at Crescent Heights High School for being an athlete on the football, swim, wrestling and track and field teams, and earned their Fighting Heart award for an athlete who has been successful overcoming obstacles, demonstrating courage, persistence, self-advocacy and grit. He participates in Special Olympics swim meets and is looking forward to joining Special Olympics skiing and track and field.

While a $2,500 fundraising target is one of our Team goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more! Through events like this, motionball raises awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement and allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to connect, build new friendships, celebrate differences and ultimately create more inclusive communities across Canada.

With your help, we can reach our fundraising goal and make a difference in creating a more inclusive Canada! Please consider supporting our Team by making a donation directly to our fundraising page.

Every donation makes a difference.
