We are so proud to be sharing that Team Gabby will be participating at the 2024 motionball Marathon of Sport . On September 14, our Team will be taking the field, alongside local Special Olympics athletes for a full day of sports, fun and inclusivity!
Today, we are inviting you to become a part of this amazing day by helping us reach our Team fundraising goal of $1,000. A tax receiptable donation of $20 will make a direct, local impact on Special Olympics athletes, like Ruby.
Ruby first became involved with motionball’s Marathon of Sport 10 years ago, and since then has participated in countless motionball events. This year, Ruby has taken on the role of motionball's Honorary Athlete Ambassador. Read below to learn what being a part of motionball means to Ruby!
“I am so happy to be a part of motionball. I have loved making so many new friends over the years and doing so many exciting things with the motionball team. My favourite part of motionball events is seeing all my friends and meeting all kinds of new people. My favourite sports to play at Marathon of Sport are basketball, soccer and of course... all the dancing!”
While a $1,000 fundraising target is one of our Team goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more! Through events like this, motionball raises awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement and allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to connect, build new friendships, celebrate differences and ultimately create more inclusive communities across Canada.

Special Olympics Athletes On Our Team
Scott
Scott participates in Special Olympics soccer, basketball, swimming, kayaking. Previously Scott participated in Special Olympics figure skating, speed skating, baseball, track and field and hockey. Scott’s proudest Special Olympics memory is winning a bronze medal at the Canadian Nationals for soccer in 2018. Outside of Special Olympics, Scott loves his dishwasher job at Sodexo where he works Monday to Friday. Scott also loves playing on PS4. This is Scott’s first Marathon of Sport!
Kalin
Kalin participates in Special Olympics soccer, basketball and kayaking. Kalin’s happiest Special Olympics moment is spending time with friends. Outside of Special Olympics, Kalin likes to bike ride, scooter ride and go to the gym. Kalin loves doing activities and meeting new people at motionball events.
Spencer
Spencer enjoys meeting new people at motionball events. Spencer also enjoyed the Karl Wolf surprise at the Marathon of Sport Toronto After Party. Outside of Special Olympics, Spencer likes video games. Spencer’s favourite part about motionball is playing different sports and meeting some famous people.
