Support Team Strathcona Resources for the 2025 motionball Marathon Of Sport Calgary

We are so proud to share that we have registered Team Strathcona Resources for the 2025 motionball Marathon of Sport Calgary. This year, on ​​June 21, we will be taking the field, alongside local Special Olympics athletes for a full day of sports, fun and inclusivity!

Today, we are inviting you to become a part of this amazing day by helping us reach our Team fundraising goal of $2,500. A tax receiptable donation of $20 will make a direct, local impact on Special Olympics athletes, like Heather and Matthew.

Meet Heather: Heather is a Marathon of Sport pro – having attended for over 6 years at the Calgary event! Heather has been involved with Special Olympics Calgary for over 30 years, with floor hockey being Heather’s favourite sport to participate in! Heather’s favourite part about Special Olympics is all about meeting new people and making new friends at each event. Heather appreciates that motionball helps raise awareness for Special Olympic initiatives and programs, and that the #NoGoodWay campaign aims to stop the use of the R-word in any situation. Heather can’t wait to enjoy the Marathon of Sport on June 21, 2025!

Meet Matthew: Matthew has been involved with Special Olympics for most of his life. Matthew is an avid swimmer (in all months) and participates in snowshoeing during the winter months. Matthew has participated in 4 Marathon of Sports, both in Calgary and Edmonton! Matthew loves having fun and meeting new people during motionball events (catch him working on his shot in basketball)! Matthew was honoured to represent Canada recently in an international swimming competition and looks forward to continuing to work on his swim strokes in future competitions. Matthew can’t wait to see you on the field for the Marathon of Sport on June 21, 2025!

While a $2,500 fundraising target is one of our Team goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more! Through events like this, motionball raises awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement and allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to connect, build new friendships, celebrate differences and ultimately create more inclusive communities across Canada.
