Support Lauren for the 2019 motionball Marathon Of Sport Ottawa

Hi everyone
For a few years now I have been participating as team captain for an event called Motionball. What is Motionball you say??? Well I will tell you!!

Motionball is wonderful day spent with some big hearted people. It is a day of sport, comraderie and fun, all geared to raise awareness and more importantly FUNDS to help support special Olympians and differently abled athletes. It helps to subsidize sports programs and activities so people like ERIC, in my picture, can play soccer, basketball, floor hockey for fun.

Several teams of 7 players or more, with 1-2 special athletes will spend the day on September 21st at Carleton University. We will be playing against other teams, games like basketball, floor hockey, soccer and more.

This year I would love to up the ante and raise $750 instead of the suggested $200. $750 could cover the cost of sending a special Olympian to compete at Provincial games.

I believe strongly in this cause and would really appreciate your help. Any little bit helps, so really anything you can donate would be AMAZING! This year, our goal for Ottawa is $110,00. With Motionball just a few weeks away, we've got a lot of work to do.

If you, or someone you know would like to know more about this event and how you can help, please don't hesitate to email me personally at Motionball organizers are always looking for volunteers or local businesses that are interested in donating or participating. Lastly if you happen to be free on September 21, I've got a couple of spots left on my team and would LOVE to have you.

Thanks in advance,
Lauren Simon

motionball for Special Olympics is a registered not-for-profit corporation, raising money for Special Olympics programs across Canada. 70% of the funds we raise are distributed to programs in the province where they are raised, with the remainder going to the long-term funding of programs through the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

While COVID-19 has affected us all, Special Olympics athletes are feeling the effects of this global pandemic more than most. Sport programs are suspended, competitions have been cancelled, and many athletes remain stuck indoors, at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general population. Now more than ever, the role of motionball in these athlete’s lives is incredibly important. As one of the Special Olympics’ largest funding partners in Canada, motionball has donated over $13M to date. motionball supporters are dedicated to ensuring that every local club and program can return stronger than before, and that no Special Olympics athlete is left behind.
