On September 21, I am participating in an all-day fundraiser called motionball Marathon of Sport. This is an action-packed day where my team and I will play sports alongside Special Olympics athletes from our community. This day helps to bring athletes of all abilities together on the playing field. While fundraising is one of our goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more.
This day not only brings awareness to the Special Olympics movement, but allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build friendships, and ultimately create more inclusive communities.
Over the past number of years, I have worked as a coach and volunteer with Special Olympics in soccer and basketball. The engagement of these athletes and the strong sense of community and sportsmanship which they have developed is nothing short of spectacular. Special Olympics really is an incredible charity to be a part of.
Please consider supporting our Team by making a donation directly to our fundraising page.
Every donation makes a difference.
