I am so proud to be sharing that I have joined Individuals for the 2025 motionball Marathon of Sport Winnipeg. This year, on September 13, my Team and I will be taking the field, alongside local Special Olympics athletes for a full day of sports, fun and inclusivity!
Today, we are inviting you to become a part of this amazing day by helping us reach our Team fundraising goal of $2,500. A tax receiptable donation of $20 will make a direct, local impact on Special Olympics athletes, like Rachel.
Rachel has participated in Special Olympics Manitoba for 14 years and her sports include Snowshoeing, Track and Field, and Rhythmic Gymnastics. This past March, Rachel earned a spot on Team Canada where she brought home 2 bronze medals from the Special Olympics Winter World Games in Italy! Rachel was proud to be 1 of 9 Special Olympics Manitoba athletes on Team Canada and together they earned an incredible 17 medals!
Rachel also loves being a part of Special Olympics Manitoba because it has made her more confident in her competitions and confident in social settings like Marathon of Sport - one of her favourite days of the year!
”I also love being a part of the motionball because it’s a day where athletes like myself and teams of people come together and play different sports and activities for the day. Every year when I get to be a part of motionball it’s always a fun time because I get to learn things about my team and they can learn about me and what I do as an athlete and what I do in life.”
While a $0 fundraising target is one of our Team goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more! Through events like this, motionball raises awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement and allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to connect, build new friendships, celebrate differences and ultimately create more inclusive communities across Canada.
