On November 22, I am participating in an all-day fundraiser called Motionball Marathon of Sport. This is an action-packed day where my team and I will play sports alongside Special Olympics athletes from our community. This day helps to bring athletes of all abilities together on the playing field. While fundraising is one of our goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more.
This day not only brings awareness to the Special Olympics movement but also allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build lifelong friendships, and ultimately create more inclusive communities.
This program means so much to me, as every Thursday night for the past 4 years, I have had the opportunity to play and coach alongside Special Olympics Athletes. Inclusivity in sports is something I feel very passionate about, and I am very grateful to be able to participate and fundraise for events like these.
