In Loving Memory of Janice Mary Bickert
Janice Mary Bickert passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, November 30th, in Kelowna. Janice was a beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched everyone she met. Her family remembers her fondly for her joyful spirit, her love of a good joke, and her ability to bring laughter to any gathering, especially with her signature whoopee cushion pranks.
Janice began bowling at a young age in Edmonton through Special Olympics, quickly making it one of her favorite activities. She brought her own joyful style to the game, straddling the lane, rocking side to side, and bowling with both hands. After each throw, Janice would often get so excited that she’d do a twirl, and, thanks to her sometimes unsteady balance, she’d frequently finish her pirouette with a gentle slide down to the ground, landing on her rear end. These moments brought laughter and smiles to everyone around her. The friendships and experiences Janice gained through Special Olympics enriched her life and created cherished memories for all who knew her.
In memory of Janice, her family warmly invites you to make a donation to Special Olympics through motionball, instead of sending flowers.
This year, Janice’s nephew Greg is once again fundraising for Special Olympics, and Janice has been named an honorary member of his team. Your contribution will help others experience the laughter, friendship, and sense of belonging that brought so much happiness to Janice’s life.
Thank you for honoring Janice’s memory and helping to continue her legacy of laughter, love, and inclusion.
